Initial Scrutiny

As soon as the L/C is issued we will scrutinize the document to ensure that it has been issued correctly, reflecting your offer / quotation and that the terms and conditions can be met. All too often L/C's are issued in such a way as to be flawed from the very outset. We have a wealth of experience to draw upon that will identify those problems at the start enabling you to request a suitable amendment.

Liaison with your Company - To ensure:

1. Production/supply of goods or services will be made in accordance with L/C deadlines or alternatively a suitable extension to these dates is requested from your customer.

2. Packaging/marking complies with any specified requirement.

3. Documents such as invoices, packing lists, weight notes, declarations etc. are produced correctly. Either we can check your documentation or, as happens in most cases, we will produce these documents for you.

Liaison with outside organisations - Such as:

1. Pre-shipment inspection companies
-ensuring that the necessary document(s) such as a Clean Report of Findings is issued as per L/C specifications.

2. Freight forwarder - We will issue comprehensive shipping and Bill of Lading/Airway Bill/CMR instructions. Draft copies of the transport document and any other required declarations are carefully checked before we give the go ahead for their final issue.

3. Chambers of Commerce/Embassies - Our sister company, Consular Consultants Limited, will take care of all certification and legalisation formalities.

4. Insurance company/broker -
Either we will issue full instructions to them for the issue of the necessary certificate or policy or we will complete the certificate ourselves.

Finally, as with most things in life, it pays to employ the professionals. Our principal, Paul Sheppard, is a specialist in this field. He successfully qualified in the recently introduced examination to test competency in this discipline and is now an accredited "Certified Documentary Credit Specialist".
